Men's Basketball Set for Home Opener vs. Alice Lloyd (Ky.)

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's basketball team opens its 2012-13 home slate on Thursday against NAIA opponent Alice Lloyd (Ky.).  Tip-off from Johnson Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET.  MSU leads the all-time series 1-0.

Morehead State split its season-opening road trip, with a 77-74 win at LIU Brooklyn and 67-45 loss at Maryland.  Alice Lloyd, a member of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, is 3-3 overall this season.

A TOUGH OUTCOME AT MARYLAND
Morehead State suffered a 67-45 setback at Maryland on Monday night at the Comcast Center.  The Eagles opened the contest 2-of-15 from the floor and connected on just 32 percent (19-of-60) against their Atlantic Coast Conference opponent.

MILTON GOES BACK-TO-BACK
Senior Milton Chavis is riding back-to-back double-figure scoring efforts for just the third time in his Morehead State career.  He managed 10 points on Monday night at Maryland after pouring in a career-best 24 on Friday evening at LIU Brooklyn.

ROLLING AT JOHNSON ARENA
Morehead State has won 86 percent (50-8) of its home games over the past four seasons, including 91 percent (32-3) in Ohio Valley Conference play.

LET’S CALL THEM ON BOTH ENDS
Morehead State has been called for 53 fouls through two games this season, while its opponents have only been whistled for 22 infractions.  The Eagles have attempted just 16 free throws so far, while their foes have gone to the charity stripe 62 times.

SCOUTING ALICE LLOYD
Alice Lloyd, an NAIA program located in Pippa Passes, Ky., owns a 3-3 record this year.  The Eagles finished 14-15 overall and 5-8 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference last season.  Junior Isaac Wilson leads ALC with 15.0 points per game.

A CHALLENGING SCHEDULE
Morehead State is scheduled to play 13 games against postseason teams from a year ago.  The month of November includes match-ups with 2012 NCAA Tournament participants LIU Brooklyn (Nov. 9), Kentucky (Nov. 21) and Norfolk State (Nov. 26).

NCAA TOURNAMENT APPEARANCES
Morehead State has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances in school history.  The Eagles have played in the “big dance” two of the past four seasons (2009 & 2011).

RECORD IMPROVEMENT
Morehead State improved each season from 2006-07 to 2010-11.  The Eagles went 12-18 (.400) in 2006-07, 15-15 (.500) in 2007-08, 20-16 (.556) in 2008-09, 24-11 (.686) in 2009-10 and 25-10 (.714) in 2010-11.  MSU also played in two NCAA Tournaments during the stretch.

CLIMBING THE RPI LADDER
Morehead State went from a Ratings Percentage Index of 321 in 2005-06 to an RPI of 64 in 2010-11.  The 257-spot jump was the largest improvement of any NCAA Division I program over those five years.

A WINNING PROGRAM
Morehead State went from a record of 4-23 (.148) in 2005-06 to a mark of 25-10 (.714) in 2010-11.  The 21-win increase was also the largest improvement of any NCAA Division I program over those five years.
