MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men’s basketball team (12-12, 5-5) continues a stretch of five road games in 17 days when it visits Eastern Illinois (9-13, 2-8) on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
The game will be webcast live on OVCSportstv. It will also be broadcast on the Eagle Sports Network, which includes four affiliates in Eastern Kentucky and MSUEagles.com.
Morehead State saw its season-long three-game winning streak end on Thursday at SIU Edwardsville. MSU had previously knocked off UT Martin, Norfolk State and Tennessee Tech.
Eastern Illinois has dropped seven consecutive games for the first time this year. EIU had previously defeated SIU Edwardsville, Houston Baptist and UT Martin.
Morehead State is led by senior Ty Proffitt (10.0 ppg, .389 3FG%), junior Kahlil Owens (5.1 rpg), senior Lamont Austin (3.0 apg, 1.4 spg), junior Milton Chavis (.523 FG%) and junior Marsell Holden (.958 FT%).
Chavis paced the Eagles with a career-best 16 points on Thursday at SIUE, while Owens yanked down a game-high 10 rebounds and Austin dished out a game-best six assists.
Eastern Illinois is led by senior Jeremy Granger (15.2 ppg, 3.5 apg, .861 FT%), sophomore Alfonzo McKinnie (7.5 rpg, .551 FG%), freshman Joey Miller (1.0 spg) and senior L.C. Doss (.381 3FG%).
Granger paced the Panthers with 12 points on Thursday against Eastern Kentucky, while McKinnie tallied a team-high seven rebounds.
Donnie Tyndall is in his sixth season as the head coach at Morehead State (108-82, .568) and his seventh year in charge of a college basketball program (138-87, .613).
Mike Miller is in his seventh season as the head coach at Eastern Illinois (72-126, .364) and his 13th year in charge of a college basketball program (159-205, .437).
Eastern Illinois owns a 22-9 advantage in the all-time series against Morehead State, including a 14-2 edge at Lantz Arena.
The schools played twice last season, with each team winning on its homecourt. The Eagles managed just 40 points in a seven-point road setback on Jan. 15, but responded with 81 points in a 16-point home victory on Feb. 10.
