Softball Heads on the Road for Three-Game Series Versus Austin Peay

GAME NOTES

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
The Morehead State softball team travels to Clarksville, Tenn., for a three-game series versus Austin Peay. The Eagles and APSU are set to play a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET, followed by a single game on Sunday at 2 p.m. 
 
MSU owns a 7-15 mark on the season and a 1-6 tally in Ohio Valley Conference action.  The Governors also sit at 7-15 in 2012 and own a 1-7 mark in conference play.  APSU finished 10th in the league standings a season ago.
 
MSU dropped a pair of games to OVC and regional rival Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday at University Field.  The Colonels took game one 2-1, before upending MSU 8-6 in game two.
 
Junior first baseman Amber Riddle has posted a hit in nine of MSU’s last 10 contests and has belted home runs in five of the last seven games, including the season’s first inside-the-park home run versus EKU in game one.  On the season, Riddle leads the Eagles with 20 RBI and seven homers while also ranking second with a .348 batting average.  She owns the Eagles’ lone OVC Player of the Week honor in 2012.

Junior pitcher Katie Pfost leads Morehead State in the circle with a 2.38 ERA in 61.2 innings and is 2-5 on the season.  Pfost notched a 0.64 ERA in 11.0 innings against the Colonels, while only giving up three runs and one earned run.  She also posted 12 strikeouts and only one walk.  

The Eagles continue their road trip on Thursday, March 29 with a single game at EKU at 3 p.m. in Richmond, Ky.
