Kenneth Faried Tabbed to NBA All Rookie First-Team

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Former Morehead State star Kenneth Faried finished his first season with the National Basketball Association's Denver Nuggets by being named to the league's All Rookie First-Team.

Faried, who helped guide MSU to two Ohio Valley Conference tournament titles and two NCAA tournament wins in his four-year career, averaged 10.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in 46 games for the Nuggets. After seeing limited time off the bench during the first month of the shortened season, he started the final 35 regular season games and all seven first-round playoff games versus the Los Angeles Lakers.

He also led all NBA rookies in field goal percentage at 58.6 percent. Faried, who led all NCAA Division I players in double-doubles in 2010-11, had 15 double-doubles in his first professional season. He finished his MSU career as the NCAA modern-era (post-1973) all-time leader in rebounds with 1,673.

Faried joined  Kyrie Irving, Ricky Rubio, Klay Thompson, Brandon Knight, Iman Shumpert, and Kawhi Leonard on the first-team.

He was drafted 22nd overall in the 2011 NBA draft, becoming the first-ever MSU player and the eighth-ever OVC player to be selected in the first round of the NBA draft.
