Pair of Softball Eagles Earn Preseason Honors

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State softball team had a pair of student-athletes named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Teams.

Senior infielder Amber Riddle was a first team selection, while junior infielder Stephanie Etter was named to the second-team.

Riddle, a native of Morehead, Ky., was named to CSM’s postseason All-OVC first-team in 2012, was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Midwest Region First-Team selection and was a Second-Team All-OVC selection.

She started all 50 games at first base and set the single-season homerun record (12). Riddle also led MSU in batting average (.391), RBI (40), walks (27) and slugging percentage (.653). She was also second in runs (28), hits (53) and on-base percentage (.466). In conference play, Riddle led all OVC players with a .413 batting average.

North Lawrence, Ohio, native Etter started all 50 games at second base in 2012 and was ranked third on the Eagles’ squad with a .306 batting average. She tallied 36 runs, 48 hits and 15 RBI. On the base path, Etter was 12-for-15 in stolen bases.

The Eagles open the 2013 season in Miami, Fla., at the Feisberg Memorial Tournament.
