Eagle Rifle Set for Spring Schedule

2012 Season Statistics

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The No. 19 Morehead State rifle team is back in action this weekend when it hosts Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and No. 18 Columbus State on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, to begin the second half of its season.

The Eagles’ last bout was a 4,531-4,380 victory at RHIT on Dec. 1. They are currently sporting a 4-5 overall record.

Sunday’s match against CSU will mark the second time the two teams have met this season. MSU lined up against the Cougars in Jacksonville, Ala., on Oct. 21 and earned a 4,536-4,528 win. They will see them again at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships Feb. 2-3 in Morehead.

Sophomore Ethan Cole is the team’s smallbore leader this season, as he averages 571 in the event. He is also second on the team in air rifle with the same total. Junior Mary Saenger leads all shooters in air rifle (578), and sits just behind Cole in smallbore (567).

Other top performers include senior Rob Gagliani in smallbore (566) and sophomore Christian Hashagen in air rifle (566).
