COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --
Led by 12 kills from junior middle blocker Laura McDermott, the Morehead State volleyball team swept Tennessee Tech (25-20, 25-19, 25-21) Friday night for its 33rd consecutive Ohio Valley Conference win.

The win secured the eighth consecutive 20-win season for the Morehead State program. The Eagles (20-6/11-0 OVC) won their 31st straight OVC road match. MSU needs just four more OVC wins to tie the conference record for consecutive regular-season victories.

It also marked the 15th straight win versus the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles.

McDermott landed the 12 winners off 22 attempts for a team-best .364 hitting percentage. The Eagles finished with advantages in kills (38-30) and digs (33-29). Senior outside hitter Aryn Bohannon paced the defensive totals with 11 digs while also connecting on nine kills. Senior libero Leslie Schellhaas totaled 10 digs.

Tech (5-16/1-10 OVC) was led by Ellen Conti with seven kills. Cody Dodd produced a match-best six total blocks.

The host squad took a 4-2 lead in the opening set, but MSU erased that quickly. The Eagles put together a 15-3 run to push its advantage to 17-7. McDermott keyed the scoring outburst with three of her kills.

Tech scored first in the next set, but Morehead State scored the next six and never trailed again. TTU tied the set at 14, but a 6-2 MSU run put it out of reach.

MSU never trailed either in the deciding frame, holding leads of 10-4 and 20-14. Tech trimmed its deficit to 23-21, but an error and a kill by junior right-side hitter Alex Fitzmorris thwarted its rally attempt and ended the match.

Morehead State finishes a four-match league road swing Saturday at Jacksonville State. First serve is set for 3 p.m. ET.
