Men's Hoops Opens OVC Road Trip With ESPNU Game at TSU

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State men's basketball team begins its final week of the regular season on Thursday at Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State.  Tip-off from the Gentry Center is set for 7 p.m. ET.

The Eagles are 13-16 overall, 7-7 in conference action and 3-11 on the road.  The Tigers are 16-12 overall, 10-4 in league play and 10-1 at home.  MSU owns a 31-28 advantage in the all-time series against TSU.

Morehead State is coming off an 82-79 overtime setback last Saturday at Oakland (Mich.).  Tennessee State dropped a 69-67 decision in its Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters contest at Loyola (Md.).

THE LAST TIME OUT
Junior Travis Bader poured in a game-best 27 points and Oakland (Mich.) posted an 82-79 overtime victory over Morehead State on Saturday at the Athletics Center O’rena.

OVERTIME HEART BURN
Morehead State is 0-3 in overtime contests this season.  The extra-session losses have come to Austin Peay, Murray State and Oakland.  Murray State was a double OT affair.

A BIG NIGHT FOR CHAD
Junior Chad Posthumus tallied a career-best 19 points and team-high nine rebounds against Oakland.  He drilled 7-of-12 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.

BRUCE’S TOP EFFORT
Junior Bruce Reed posted a career-best 14 points and six rebounds vs. Oakland.  He connected on 6-of-9 overall, including 2-of-4 from long range, in his fifth start this year.

EAGLES AND TIGERS
Morehead State owns a 31-28 advantage in the all-time series against Tennessee State.  The Eagles turned in a 78-69 victory over the Tigers on Jan. 26 at Johnson Arena.

ON THE TUBE AND NET
Thursday will mark Morehead State’s first appearance on ESPNU this year and its fourth televised game.  Every other MSU contest has been streamed live on the internet.

LAST YEAR’S EXPOSURE
Morehead State played in seven TV games last season -- ESPN (1), ESPNU (3), BIG EAST Network (1), CSN Chicago (1) and Racer TV (1).  The Eagles finished 2-5 in those affairs.

SEE YOU IN NASHVILLE
Morehead State will open play in the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Wednesday, March 6.  The Eagles will either be the No. 5 or 6 seed in this year’s event.

GOING TO THE GLASS
Morehead State is +146 total rebounds, +107 in offensive boards and +103 in second-chance points over the past 16 tilts.  The Eagles have outrebounded 14 opponents during the stretch.
