FALL RELEASE
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Head Coach David Williams has announced the addition of three student-athletes for the 2014 Morehead State softball season.
Stephanie Satterfield (Cleveland, Ga./Georgia Perimeter College) and Tanna Seuferer (Chariton, Iowa/Daytona State College), who have signed National Letters of Intent, and Nikki Hinkley (Mt. Washington, Ky/Bullitt East High School) will enroll at MSU for the 2013-14 school year.
The trio will join Kaci Giles (Kennesaw, Ga.), Kayla McGuffey (Mooresville, N.C.), Riley Stokes (Lexington, Ky.), Karly Thompson (Blue Ridge, Ga.) and Megan Tymorek (Chesterton, Ind.), who have already signed National Letters of Intent with the Eagles.
Satterfield is transferring to the Eagles from Georgia Perimeter College as a junior infielder. In 2012, Satterfield earned All-Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association honors, posted a .419 average, and drove in 43 runs for the Jaguars. This season, she is hitting .335 to help lift GPC to the top of the conference standings.
Satterfield graduated from White County High School and was an all-state selection, as well as the GHSA Player of the Year. She also led her team to a state title and set the GHSA single-season home run record.
“Stephanie will bring a wealth of experience with her, playing at the junior college level,” Head Coach David Williams said. “She has been successful at all levels and has a winning mentality. Her experience defensively, and ability to produce offensively, make her a valuable asset.”
Seuferer comes to the Eagles after two seasons at Daytona State College (Fla.). In 2012, she finished her first collegiate season with a 1.65 ERA and 14 wins. She also registered 118 strikeouts and earned FCCAA Mid-Florida Conference honors. Seuferer also added MFC Scholar-Athlete and FCCAA All-Academic honors to her résumé. In 2013, she has 11 wins and 119 strikeouts.
During her time at Chariton High School, she was named all-state twice.
“Tanna has had a tremendous amount of success pitching at the high school and junior college levels,” Williams said. “Playing two seasons in a very tough Florida junior college system has provided her with valuable experience. That experience, coupled with her skill set, should provide us with depth in the circle.”
Hinkley will join the Eagles as an outfielder next season. She is set to graduate from Bullitt East High School this spring and was selected to the Kentucky Junior All-Star Team. She was also an all-state, all-district and an academic all-state selection as a junior. During the 2012 season, she hit .484 and racked up 18 RBI. She also scored 31 runs and went 20-for-20 in stolen bases.
Hinkley is a member of the Louisville Stunners travel team and has participated in the Colorado Sparkler All-Star Games, earning All-America honors at that event.
“Nikki has the ability to create offense with her speed and short game,” Williams sad. “She has an excitement and passion for the game of softball that is contagious. Match that with a strong work ethic and she should excel upon her arrival.”
The three additional newcomers, and five from the fall signing class, will join 13 underclassmen expected to return for the 2014 season.
