Riddle Earns OVC Softball Postseason Honors

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State softball senior first baseman Amber Riddle was named First-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference, the league announced on Tuesday.

“It’s a great honor to be named First-Team All-OVC,” Riddle said. “It’s an even better honor to be at the tournament with this team. It’s been a great season and I’m proud of what we have accomplished together.”

The Morehead native has started all 47 games this season and is the team’s leader with a .374 batting average. During the 2013 season she set MSU career marks for home runs (36), RBI (148) and walks (107). Riddle will also finish in the top five all-time in games played, hits and total bases.

In addition to batting average, Riddle is the team’s leader in home runs (9), RBI (40), total bases (83), walks (30), slugging percentage (.634) and on-base percentage (.482).

As a junior, Riddle was a National Fast Pitch Coaches Association All-Midwest Region First-Team selection and was tabbed Second-Team All-OVC. She also earned First-Team All-OVC honors from College Sports Madness. During her freshman year she was honored as the OVC Newcomer of the Year, and was a member of the All-Newcomer Team and was named Second-Team All-OVC.

“I’m extremely proud of Amber and all that she has accomplished this season,” Head Coach David Williams said. “The honor caps off a great career for her and she is a very deserving student-athlete. She’s a great leader on and off the field, and I wish her nothing but success in the future.”

Riddle and the eighth-seeded Eagles will begin OVC Tournament play on Wednesday when they face host, and No. 1 seed, Eastern Illinois at 4 p.m. ET. Live audio and stats can be found at MSUEagles.com, and in-game updates will be available at Twitter.com/MSUAthletics.
