MOREHEAD, Ky. – Gabriel Ruiz has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Morehead State men's tennis team.
A native of Tarija, Bolivia, Ruiz has climbed as high as No. 26 in the Confederacion Sudamerican de Tenis (COSAT) rankings.
"We are extremely excited to get Gabriel," Head Coach Kevin Fulton said. "He has a proven track record of winning, and he also has high character off the court, which fits the mold of the student athlete we recruit at MSU."
Ruiz has represented his country three times in continental South American Tournaments, where only the top three from each country participate.
He also won numerous grade 1 and grade 2 events and was awarded as an "elite athlete" three times in his hometown, a city of approximately 230,000 residents in Southern Bolivia.
