HTML STATS | PDF STATSCOOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech used advantages of .208-.116 in hitting percentage, 10-2 in aces and 8-5 in team blocks to register a 25-20, 28-26, 25-16 Ohio Valley Conference volleyball win over Morehead State on Saturday afternoon at the Eblen Center.
The Golden Eagles improve to 11-15 overall, 6-4 in conference action and 4-2 at home. The Eagles slip to 1-23 overall, 1-9 in league play and 1-8 on the road. Tennessee Tech sweeps the 2014 series after Morehead State had won the previous eight match-ups.
Junior middle blocker Cody Dodd led Tennessee Tech with 15 kills and seven aces. She also posted eight digs and six blocks. Sophomore setter Sharon Anderson added a team-high 29 assists, while senior libero Courtney Smith contributed a team-best 10 digs.
TTU managed a 10-point advantage in the serving department. The Golden Eagles were +5, with the 10 aces and just five errors. The Eagles were -5, with seven miscues and just the two aces.
Junior middle blocker Hannah Sigala paced Morehead State with a .273 hitting percentage on 11 winners. Senior setter Colbey Cameron added a double-double with 31 assists and 13 digs, while sophomore libero Hope Rillema picked up a match-best 16 digs.
Morehead State hit .250 in the second set, but failed to reach the .100 mark in the first and third periods. Tennessee Tech checked in at .268 during the middle stanza and finished a .214 clip.
The Eagles return to Wetherby Gym and continue OVC action next weekend. MSU will host Belmont on Friday at 6 p.m. ET and Tennessee State on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both matches will be webcast live and free of charge on the OVC Digital Network.
