No. 18 Rifle Defeats Two Teams from VMI

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The No. 18 Morehead State rifle team defeated two squads from Virginia Military Institute on Saturday at Button Rifle Range.  The Eagles posted an aggregate score of 4,570.  VMI's coed team registered a 4,491, while its women's-only squad turned in a 4,220.

Senior Ethan Cole led MSU with a total of 1,158, while freshman Dan Hall added an 1,145, freshman Joe Fischer contributed an 1,133 and senior Jumell Wilson finished with a 1,089.  Junior Russell Smith was in the smallbore line-up, while freshman Haley Wilson was an air rifle counter.

Cole paced the Eagles in smallbore with a 576, while Hall registered a 571 and Fischer recorded a 570.  Smith fired a personal-best 583 in air rifle, while Cole tallied a 582 and Wilson posted a 580.  As a team, Morehead State finished with a 2,271 in smallbore and 2,299 in air rifle.

Cole's smallbore score was the best of 17 shooters in the competition, while Smith's air rifle total was the highest of 21 individuals.
