Moreno Shaves More Time Off School 5K Record

Sophomore Jesse Moreno
MOREHEAD, Ky -- For the second consecutive week, Morehead State sophomore Jesse Moreno has re-written the school 5,000-meter track record. His performance highlighted a few personal bests and victories for members of the MSU men's and women's teams Friday at the Louisville Cardinal Twilight.

Moreno, who saw his school record set earlier in the season eclipsed by teammate Chase Ratliff, shaved eight more seconds off the mark he had re-established last week in Virginia. Moreno won the 5K today, finishing in 14:27.93 and topping 14 other runners.

Men's teammate Desmond Bell claimed top honors in the 800-meter run, running a 1.52.42. He beat 13 other racers, taking first place in head-to-head 800-meter events for the fourth time this season.

On the women's side, sophomore Alex Morris crossed the line in third place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:51.48. Freshmen twin sisters Hannah (18:38.93) and Haley (18:41.08) Mullins both shattered their previous personal records.

The meet concluded the 2014 track season.
