Morris Leads MSU Women at Queen City Invitational

MASON, Ohio --
The Morehead State women's cross country team finished in fifth place out of 20 teams at the 33rd annual Queen City Invitational at Kingswood Park.
Friday, led by junior Alex Morris who completed the 5K course in 21st place. It was the debut race for MSU first-year Head Coach Stephen Picucci.

For the men, junior Jesse Moreno finished first among 240 runners to help the Morehead State men's cross country team to a third place finish.
 
The MSU men recorded eight runners in the top 50, paced by Moreno covering the 5K course in 15:11:30. Senior Gary Monroe was next on the squad, finishing in 15:39:30 and good for ninth place.

Junior Evan Childers finished in 19th with a time of 15:54:04. Senior Desmond Bell clocked in at 16:04:19 and 31st place.
 
Freshman Mason Blevins finished with a time of 16:12:44. Junior Jorge Gil-Juarez (16:15:21), freshman Iszack Whitsell (16:16:34), sophomore Landon Meserve (16:56:12), freshman Hunter Trenary (16:19:37), freshman Josh Riley (17:08:09), sophomore Jeremy Ruppert (17:25:33), junior Clay Dixon (17:52:03) and freshman Anthony Ortega (18:09:01) rounded out the Eagle lineup.
 
In the women's race, Morris paced Morehead State with a time of 19:36:61. Sophomore Mackenzie Butler was next at 19:36:61 in 25th place.
 
Sophomores Haley and Hannah Mullins finished back-to-back at 19:55:93 and 19:55:99, respectively.
 
Junior Jasmyn Andrews (20:14:56), junior Erica Parks (20:29:30), senior Lindsay Marcum (20:42:11), sophomore Alyssa Shifflett (20:46:02), sophomore Hannah Bailey (21:07.09) and sophomore Taylor Montgomery (21:16:20) rounded out the MSU contingent.
 
Both teams will compete next at the Bluegrass Invitational in Lexington on Sept. 13.
