Women's Hoops Looking for 10th Straight Win Against SEMO

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State women's basketball team ventures to Southeast Missouri Thursday to face the Redhawks. Game time at the Show Me Center is set for 6 p.m. ET. 

MSU owns a nine-game winning streak in the series and a four-game winning streak in games at SEMO. The last MSU loss was Feb. 7, 2008. Southeast Missouri leads the series 24-16 in true games played but 21-16 officially due to three vacated wins.

The Redhawks are 7-8 overall but 0-2 in OVC contests. Morehead State is 5-9 overall and 1-0 in the league after defeating Murray State 64-63 last Saturday.

Murray State Rewind
Senior guard Almesha Jones hit a deep three-pointer from the top of the key with two seconds left to lift the Eagles to a 64-63 win last Saturday.
Sophomore forward Shay Steele led MSU with 20 points.
The Eagles held Murray State scoreless for the final 3:24 while using an 8-0 run to get the come-from-behind win.

Keeping Up With the Joneses
• Almesha Jones is the 22nd member of Morehead State's 1,000-point club. She now has 1,143 career points and is ranked 18th in career points at MSU.
Jones leads the nation in total assists (114), six more than three players tied for second place.
Jones is responsible for nearly half of MSU's total points. Between her 235 points and 114 assists, she leads to 35.5 points per game.
Jones is the first player in program history (1970-71 to present) with at least 1,000 career points, 400 assists and 200 steals. She is second in school history in steals.

Eriel Act
Freshman forward Eriel McKee has scored in double figures in all 11 collegiate games.
McKee leads all OVC freshmen in rebounding, pulling down 8.5 per game. She has four double-doubles.

Knocking Down Shots, Pulling Down Boards
Senior forward Casey Ryans leads the OVC in field goal percentage (.557).
Ryans grabbed a career-best 13 rebounds against Brescia on Nov. 24 and collected 12 boards at USC-Upstate Dec. 17.

Steele The One
• Shay Steele leads the OVC in blocked shots (31) and ranks 29th nationally. She is now tied for eighth in career blocks (58) at Morehead State.
Steele has four 20-point games this year.
In the last three games, she averaged 18.6 points and 8.0 rebounds.

Flyin Hawaiian
Hawaiian native and senior guard Maiki Viela has seven double-figure scoring games this season. She also leads MSU with an .824 free-throw percentage.
