MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Junior left-hander Haley Chambers collected 20 strikeouts in the second perfect game of her career, and the SIU Edwardsville softball team recorded 10 hits in game two on its way to a doubleheader sweep of Morehead State on Sunday afternoon at University Field.

The Cougars, who improve to 23-6 overall, 6-1 in Ohio Valley Conference action and 5-3 on the road with their sixth consecutive victory, hung on for a 1-0 win in the opener and tallied a 10-3 victory in the second contest.  The Eagles slip to 8-12 overall, 0-2 in league play and 2-2 at home.

Chambers, who fanned the first 17 batters she faced, registered her ninth complete game this year, improved to 13-3 overall and lowered her ERA to 1.24.  Chambers also notched her fourth Division I no-hitter.  She now has a conference-best 160 strikeouts in 107.1 innings this season.

Freshman right-hander Mackenzie Grossmann fell to 4-4 with the loss, despite allowing just one run in her sixth complete game of the campaign.  She yielded just two walks and scattered five hits while striking out four.  Grossmann fired 110 pitches, while Chambers needed just 87.

SIU Edwardsville scored the only run of the pitchers' duel in the top of the first.  The Cougars plated all of their game-two runs in the fourth and five frames when they combined for nine hits.

Freshman catcher Tess Eby launched a grand slam before junior center fielder Jordan LaFave clocked a solo homer.  Both roundtrippers came with two outs in the fourth and gave the Cougars a 5-0 advantage.  SIUE batted around in the fifth when five runners crossed the dish to make it 10-1.

Sophomore center fielder Kayla McGuffey led Morehead State in game two by going 1-for-4 with two RBI.  Senior third baseman Katie Raile added MSU's other hit and scored once.

Freshman right-hander Baylee Douglass, who tossed 76 pitches over two separate stints, improved to 9-2 with the game-two win.  She allowed just one unearned run, one walk and one hit while striking out six.  Sophomore right-hander Alexis Kohrs was responsible for MSU's two-run fifth.

Senior right-hander Tanna Seuferer fell to 4-3 with the game-two loss.  She allowed five earned runs and five hits while walking two and striking out one.  She departed after SIUE's back-to-back dingers in the fifth.  Grossmann returned and finished the contest with 2.2 scoreless frames.

Morehead State continues its eight-game homestand on Monday when OVC opponent Eastern Illinois visits for a 1:30 p.m. ET doubleheader.  The Eagles wrap up their stretch at University Field on Wednesday against East Tennessee State.  Visit MSUEagles.com for more information.
