NOTES ON THE EAGLES:

LAST WEEK
Morehead State is 11-14 overall and 3-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference after going 3-2.  The Eagles split a league doubleheader on Monday with Eastern Illinois.  MSU then won two of three on Saturday and Sunday at conference rival Eastern Kentucky.

THE WEEK AHEAD
Morehead State is scheduled to play three doubleheaders.  The Eagles host Horizon League foe Cleveland State on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET.  MSU then visits conference opponents Murray State on Friday at 2 p.m. and Austin Peay on Saturday at 1 p.m.

TURNING THINGS AROUND
Morehead State won its first conference series of the season with two victories at Eastern Kentucky.  The Eagles swept Saturday's doubleheader before falling in Sunday's weekend finale.  MSU had previously dropped seven straight to the Colonels.

SIX AND COUNTING FOR KAYLA
Sophomore Kayla McGuffey has hit safely in six consecutive games.  The outfielder is 10-for-20 during the stretch with one double, three runs and three RBI.  She paces Morehead State in batting average (.354), hits (29), runs (14) and stolen bases (10) this season.

THE FRESHMAN IN THE CIRCLE
Freshman Mackenzie Grossmann owns a 6-5 record and 3.02 ERA in 20 appearances.  The right-hander has limited opponents to a .208 batting average while striking out 51 in 83.1 innings.  She earned victories over Eastern Illinois and Eastern Kentucky last week.

FINDING THE RIGHT COMBINATION
Seven Morehead State players have started all 25 contests -- senior infielder Katie Raile, junior infielder Dana Hutchins, junior outfielder Lizzy Margagliotti, junior outfielder Tressa Watson, Kayla McGuffey, sophomore infielder Karly Thompson and freshman designated player Lindsay Ward.

A LOOK AT THE LEAGUE
SIU Edwardsville owns the Ohio Valley Conference's best overall record at 27-6 (.818), while Jacksonville State is undefeated in seven league games.  The 12 programs are scheduled to play 27 league contests apiece.  The regular season wraps up May 3, with the OVC Tournament to be held the following week.
