MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State junior Jorge Gil-Juarez won the 1,500-meter race to highlight the Eagle track and field team's efforts at the weather-shortened Miami RedHawk Invitational Saturday at George Rider Track.

The event was delayed several hours due to poor weather, and an abbreviated schedule ensued once the weather cleared.

Gil-Juarez, a transer from Clackamas Community College, ran the 1,500-meter run in 4:02.16, edging out Miami's Jake Brumfield by more than a second. Gil-Juarez was one of five MSU runners in that race. Freshman Grayson Brookshire was eighth at 4:08.66.

For the women's team, junior Jasmyn Andrews had a 13th place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:03.90. She was one of six entries in that race for MSU. Junior Erica Parks took seventh place in the 5,000-meter event with a time of 18:19.75.

Morehead State's next action is set for next weekend at the Jesse Owens Invitational in Columbus, Ohio (Friday) and the Bluegrass Invitational at Kentucky (Saturday).
