SCHEDULE | ROSTER
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- With virtually its entire roster back from a year ago, the Morehead State men's tennis team is primed for its 2016 season. The Eagles lift the lid on the campaign Sunday at No. 36 Louisville at 5 p.m. ET.
Head Coach
Kevin Fulton is in his 11th season leading both MSU squads. The men's team finished with six victories in 2015, including four Ohio Valley Conference wins. The 2016 schedule features stout non-conference competition from the likes of Louisville, Michigan State, Xavier, Mississippi State, Wake Forest and Kentucky. MSU has five home matches scheduled, starting on Feb. 23 against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
The Eagles return eight players from the 2015 squad, including First-Team All-OVC selection
Ritchie Kruunenberg. The junior from Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands carded an 18-11 singles mark and a 13-11 doubles tally in his first Division I season.
AÂ quartet of seniors are on the 2016 team, including
Nick Mercer (Sutton Coldfield, England),
Enrique Samudio (Mexico City),
Gabriel Ruiz (Tarija, Bolivia)Â and
Garrett Mandrell (Indianapolis, Ind.). The group combined for 33 singles victories last year.
Kruunenberg is the lone junior, while sophomore members include
Sabastian Penaloza (Santiago, Chile),
Jose Zurro (Valladolid, Spain) and
Tyler Edlin (Elizabethtown, Ky.).Â
Ognjen Sunjevaric (Belgrade, Serbia) is the lone freshman.
