Men's Tennis loses in season opener to No.36 Louisville

RESULTS

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—
Morehead State men's tennis opened its season with a 4-0 setback to No.36 Louisville at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday evening.

MSU (0-1) started the off with doubles competition with senior Enrique Samudio and freshman Ognjen Sunjevaric falling 6-3 to Brandon Lancaster and Christian Haushammer. Senior Nick Mercer and sophomore Sebastian Penaloza went head-to-head with Courtney Lock and George Hedley, losing 6-2. With the Cardinals winning the first two matches, the contest on court one was halted.

In singles competition, on court one, junior Gabriel Ruiz was defeated in two sets, 6-1, 6-2 by Alex Gornet. Samudio took on Haushammer but fell 6-3, 6-3. In the third match of singles play, Sunjevaric absorbed a straight-set defeat to Lock 6-0, 6-0. Matches featuring senior Ritchie Kruunenberg, Mercer, and Penaloza were cut short.

Next up for the Eagles will be a Friday evening affair at Liberty, with a start time set for 6 p.m. ET.
