Women's Hoops welcomes in SEMO on Thursday night

MOREHEAD, Ky. - After a tough OVC opening loss to Murray State, the Morehead State women's basketball team takes on Southeast Missouri at Johnson Arena on Thursday night at 8:15 p.m. ET, as part of a men's and women's double-header.
 
Morehead State (6-9) has had its struggles on the road, but the Eagles are 4-2 at home and have won two of their last three at Johnson Arena. Freshman guard Miranda Crockett made program history earlier in the week when she was became the first player to be named OVC Freshman of the Week for three straight weeks. She has been named OVC Freshman of the Week five times on the young season.  
 
The Redhawks (9-6) are winners of three straight games, including conference victories over Belmont and Tennessee State in the past week. SEMO is led by junior guard Bri Mitchell, who is averaging 16.3 points per game over her last three games.
 
The contest will be available online on the OVC Digital Network. It will also broadcast on the Eagle Sports Radio Network with Jason Blanton calling all of the action. The radio network includes WIVY-96.3 FM and several affiliates throughout eastern Kentucky. A live audio stream can be found on MSUEagles.com and the Eagle Empire app.
 
MODEL OF CONSISTENCY
Sophomore forward Eriel McKee has scored in double-digits in every game and has accumulated a team-high four double-doubles. For her efforts, she was voted as OVC Player of the Week on Dec. 21.
 
MAKING PROGRAM HISTORY WITH OVC WEEKLY HONORS
Freshman guard Miranda Crockett has been named OVC Freshman of the Week in three straight weeks, becoming the first player in school history to win the award in a three-week succession. She has won the honor five times this season.
 
BLOCK PARTY HOSTED BY THE EAGLES
The Eagles rank first in the nation with 110 blocks and blocked shots per game with 7.3. Junior forward Shay Steele is 23rd in the nation with 33 blocks. MSU tied a school record and an OVC record with 16 blocks in the win over Mount St. Joseph on Nov. 23.
 
RUN, SCORE, REPEAT
MSU continues to score at a very high rate, averaging 84.3 points per game, ranking eighth in the nation in scoring offense.  In four of 15 games, MSU has reached the century scoring mark and are 3-1 when they do so.
 
ATTACK THE BOARDS
The Eagles rank third in the country with 716 rebounds and fourth in rebounds per game with 47.7. MSU is also averaging 18.0 offensive rebounds per game, making them the 10th best offensive rebounding team in the nation.
 
TAKE THE BALL AWAY
MSU ranks sixth nationally with 180 steals and is 12th in steals per game with 12.0. Sophomore forward Eriel McKee is third in the nation with 52 steals and ranks eighth with 3.47 steals per game.
 
FORCING MISTAKES
With 21.9 forced turnovers per game, the Eagles rank 12th in the nation. In nine of 15 contests, the Eagles have forced 20 or more turnovers.
