Kruunenberg picks up win, but men's tennis falls to LWC

MOREHEAD, Ky.—Morehead State men's tennis suffered a 5-2 defeat to Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on Tuesday afternoon at Sadler Courts.
 
Junior Ritchie Kruunenberg picked up his second win of the season as he took down Raul Mendez 6-4, 7-6 (7-0). His win was the first of two on the day as senior Garrett Mandrell was victorious over Collin Sparks in straight sets 6-0, 6-3.
 
Senior Gabriel Ruiz traded shots with Ignacio Huertas, dropping the first set 6-4, but rallied in the second set for a 6-1 win. He later faltered in the third, 6-3. Senior Nick Mercer, senior Enrique Samudio, and freshman Ognjen Sunjevaric went down in straight sets to each of their opponents.
 
Mercer and Sunjevaric picked up a 6-2 win in doubles competition over Sparks and Javier Raya. The team of Kruunenberg and Ruiz battled with Mendez and Tomas Deppiago, but were ultimately defeated 6-3. The tandem of Mandrell and Samudio were struck down, 6-2, by Huertas and Alonso Tellez.
 
The Eagles will go back on the road this weekend as they will face the Toledo on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
