GM2MOREHEAD, Ky. – After putting together three wins in the Buccaneer Classic last weekend, Morehead State opens its home schedule with a doubleheader against Eastern Michigan beginning at noon on Saturday.
The Eagles halted a five-game losing streak by bouncing back and finishing 3-1 in the Buccaneer Classic, downing Alabama A&M twice and Siena once, while falling to East Tennessee State. They scored 34 runs and batted .394, while giving up just 11 runs. With the three wins, they moved their record to 8-7.
In their eight wins, they have scored 64 runs, good for eight per game, but have managed just nine runs combined in their seven losses.
Senior
Dana Hutchins is hitting .316 with a home run and 10 runs batted in on the season. She was named MVP of the Buccaneer Classic after batting .615 with two doubles, five runs, and five runs batted in.
Sophomore catcher
Robyn Leighton leads Morehead State in batting average (.412), runs (14), hits (14), doubles (5) and home runs (5). She tallied six runs, two RBI and one home run last weekend at the Buccaneer Classic. Senior
Lizzy Margagliotti is batting .355 with 12 runs batted in.
Sophomore
Mackenzie Grossmann is 3-3 on the season with a 5.06 ERA and 37 strikeouts. On Saturday, she picked up the win against Alabama A&M, striking out a season-high nine and walking two.
