Men's Tennis hangs tough at No. 17 UK, but falls 4-0

Box Score

LEXINGTON, Ky.—Morehead State men's tennis suffered a mid-week setback in a 4-0 loss to No. 17 Kentucky on Tuesday night at the Boone Varsity Tennis Complex.

The Eagles (3-7) dropped only their second loss in the last five matches. The Wildcats improve their record to 12-4 on the year.

"Kentucky is ranked No. 17 for a reason, they have really turned their program around from a year ago and it showed tonight," said Head Coach Kevin Fulton. "Anyone who watched our team tonight left knowing this team never quits, never gives up, and will fight to the final point."

All matches played between the two squads were singles competitions.

Sophomore Enrique Samudio posted a threat to UK's Trey Yates, battling in both sets, but he fell 6-2, 6-4. Senior Garrett Mandrell saw action against Gus Benson, falling in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

Morehead State will look ahead to Friday and Saturday as it goes on the road to Nashville, Tenn., taking on Tennessee State and Belmont.
