MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State freshman Kansas Greenwell claimed first place in the 5,000-meter race Saturday to highlight the men's and women's performances at the Bellarmine Classic.
Greenwell bested 17 other runners to finish first at 17:53.37. It marked her first career win.
On the men's side, sophomore Iszaak Whitsell completed a second-place effort in the second section of the 5K, crossing the line in 15:49.79.
Lauren Best (4.57.90)Â and Gloria Corona-Luna (4:58.34)Â took 13th and 14th place, respectively, in the 1,500-meter race. In the men's 1,500-meter race,
Jordan Carrington was 13th place at 4:07.37.
Mya Faris represented the women's squad in the 800-meter run, coming in eighth at 2:26.17.
Both teams will be back in action on Saturday at the Mountaineer Open in Boone, N.C.
