MOREHEAD, Ky. - Following a tough 76-73 loss at Tennessee Tech on Thursday night, Morehead State men's basketball (9-12, 5-3 Ohio Valley Conference) returns to action at Jacksonville State (13-10, 5-3) on Saturday at noon.

The game marks a homecoming of sorts for senior guard Xavier Moon, a native of nearby Goodwater, Ala.

"It means a lot to be able to play in front of friends and family, it kind of reminds you of high school, having everyone there, cheering you on," said Moon. "Everyone is proud of the way that I am playing right now, so hopefully we can go down there and get a win."

Moon matched a career-high with 26 points at Tech. He shot 5-of-8 from three-point range, while adding seven assists and four rebounds. It marked the second time in three games where Moon scored a career-high 26 points. Just a week ago, he set his career high with 26 points, 21 of which came in second half, in the win at Austin Peay. He shot 10-of-16 from the floor and 6-of-10 from three-point range. He also had 25 points, while adding nine assists and six rebounds in the win over EIU.

He has scored in double figures in 17 of 21 games this season and has five 20-plus point games, three of which have come in OVC play. In OVC play, he is averaging 18.4 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.3 rebounds.

He ranks seventh in the OVC with 16.0 points, third in free throw percentage (.873), second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5), fourth in assists (4.9), fifth in minutes (34.6), and eighth in steals (1.4). His .873 free throw percentage ranks 39th in the country.

Morehead State leads the all-time series versus Jax State, 22-9. Last year, the two teams split as they both got wins on the road. Morehead State had won five straight prior to JSU coming to Johnson Arena and winning 78-74 a season ago. The Eagles last loss in Jacksonville came on Feb. 2, 2013 when they fell 70-59.

The game will air live on the OVC Digital Network and Chuck Mraz and Jason Blanton will have the call on the Eagles Sports Network.
