COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – After a scoreless deadlock for almost 84 minutes, Morehead State dropped a 1-0 decision to Tennessee Tech on Friday afternoon at Tech Soccer Field.

The Eagles fall to 3-10-1 (2-4-1 Ohio Valley Conference) on the season, while Tennessee Tech secures a tie for second place in the OVC at 4-1-3 in league play and 7-4-3 overall.

Junior goalkeeper Michelle Washburn was the bright spot for Morehead State in Friday's defensive tussle. The 5-foot-9 former Scott County High School (Ky.) standout made nine total saves, including five in the first half.

Washburn faced 18 shots from the Golden Eagles, erasing several crosses and would-be additional attempts along the way. Her nine saves are her most since securing 13 in a 2-0 win at Chattanooga on Sept. 3.

Morehead State was held without a shot in the opening period, but came out firing in the second half. Sophomore forward Ashley Ritchie attempted two, while Samantha Damante, Cara Maher, and Makenna Lavatori supplied one each. Damante and Lavatori's attempts landed on goal, both forcing a save from TTU keeper Kari Naerdemann.

The Eagles return to action later this weekend, capping off the last installment of a five-game road streak. Morehead State battles Jacksonville State on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
