MOREHEAD, Ky. – In the final match of the 2017 regular season, Morehead State soccer (3-12-1, 2-6-1 Ohio Valley Conference) battles Austin Peay (7-6-3, 2-4-3 OVC) on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET in a pivotal must-win scenario at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field in Clarksville, Tenn.

A Morehead State win coupled with a little bit of luck would propel the Eagles to an eighth-place finish in the conference, securing a spot in next week's OVC Tournament. Jacksonville State (6-9-2, 3-6 OVC), who plays at Southeast Missouri (6-7-3, 3-3-3 OVC) on Sunday at 3 p.m., would need to lose for Morehead State's season to continue.

"This is our World Cup," said MSU head coach Warren Lipka. "We need this result if we want any chance for a postseason."

The Eagles enter Sunday on the heels of a 2-0 loss to Belmont last Friday at Jayne Stadium. Morehead State held the Bruins in check after initially giving up a goal just five minutes into the match, but Belmont sealed the victory by placing one more in the back of the net in the 83rd minute.

Eagles goalkeeper Michelle Washburn made five saves in the loss, bringing her total to 92 on the year. Washburn's junior campaign is tied for the ninth-best single-season mark in school history, just three saves shy of Stefani Workman's tally from 2003.

Last season, Morehead State dropped a 1-0 decision to Austin Peay in both teams' 2016 OVC opener. The Eagles won the previous four matchups by an 11-6 margin.
