MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State men's basketball (13-13, 9-4 Ohio Valley Conference) looks to bounce back from Thursday night's defeat at Tennessee State when they travel to face first place Belmont (19-5, 13-1) on Saturday.

In the 64-52 loss at TSU, the Eagles scored a season-low 52 points, shot a season-low 27 percent, recorded a season-low nine assists, and had 19 turnovers.

Despite the loss, which ended a season-high four-game winning streak, the Eagles have won four of five games, seven of nine, nine of 12, and 11 of their last 16. At 9-4 in league play, they have the second best record and stand as the No. 3 seed in the OVC Tournament.

Senior guard Xavier Moon led the way for the Eagles on Thursday night with 18 points, five assists and four rebounds.

He has scored in double figures in 22 of 26 games and has six 20-plus point games on the year. He ranks eighth in the OVC with 16.4 points, fourth in free throw percentage (.880), third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4), fifth in assists (4.7), fifth in minutes (35.2), and ninth in steals (1.3). His .880 free throw percentage ranks 42nd in the country.

In OVC play, he leads the league with 38.3 minutes per game, while averaging 18.2 points (7th), 5.8 assists (2nd), and 4.1 rebounds, while shooting 47 percent from three-point range (3rd).

On Jan. 12 at Johnson Arena, Morehead State fell 84-78 to Belmont. Five players scored in double figures for the Eagles, while Moon led the way with 18 points.

Morehead State is 2-8 all-time vs. Belmont as the Bruins won the first five contests. Last season, the two teams split as Belmont won in Nashville, 73-67, and Morehead State won at Johnson Arena, 78-77.

The game will air live on the OVC Digital Network and Chuck Mraz and Jason Blanton will have the call on the Eagles Sports Network.
