NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Despite heading into halftime facing just a five-point deficit, Morehead State men's basketball (13-14, 9-5 Ohio Valley Conference) ultimately dropped an 89-73 decision to Belmont (20-5, 14-1 OVC) on Saturday afternoon in Nashville.
"Give them credit, that's a really good game that they (Belmont) played. But, I thought our guys really fought all the way to the end and I think that is going to pay off for us going forward," said interim head coach
Preston Spradlin.
The Eagles finished the game shooting 26-of-63 (.413) from the floor, thanks to nearly identical first (14-of-34, .412) and second (12-of-29, .414) halves.
It was Belmont, however, who turned in a 16-for-25 (.640) performance in the second half, including a 9-for-16 (.563) showing from three-point range. The Bruins ended the contest shooting 32-for-58 (.552) overall.
Sophomore forward
Lamontray Harris led the way for the Eagles with 16 points and 10 rebounds for his second career double-double. Senior guard
Xavier Moon also finished with 16 points and was 3-of-6 from three-point land.
Senior forward
Treshaad Williams was the third Eagle to finish in double figures with 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Eagles return home next week for their final two games of the regular season. They host Tennessee Tech on Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network before welcoming Jacksonville State on Senior Day on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. ET.
