TAVARES, Fla. – On the opening day of play for the Morehead State beach volleyball team at the Stetson Beach Invitational, the Eagles fell to No. 12 Stetson, No. 8 Georgia State and New Mexico.
"This was a great day for Morehead State to begin its beach volleyball program," said head coach
Jaime Gordon. "We had the opportunity to match up against two top-10 programs, and I was extremely proud of how our team handled the challenges."

"After we were able to settle our nerves each team did a great job of improving from point to point," added Gordon.
As the day progressed, each flight showed improvement, winning more and more points.
"Considering that this is only our seventh day on the sand, we had a great outing," Gordon added. "We will see how we take the lessons from today and apply them to our matches tomorrow and throughout the rest of the week."
The Eagles conclude the Stetson Beach Invitational tomorrow with matches against Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) and Jacksonville State.
