Allison Rager homered twice and junior
Chelsea McManaway threw a one-hit shutout as Morehead State softball rolled to an 11-0 victory in game one at Austin Peay on Friday afternoon.
In the second game, the Eagles fell 7-1.
With the split, Morehead State's winning streak ends at ten games and their record moves to 17-8 overall and 1-1 in OVC play.
"We played very well in game one and executed in every area. We had solid hitting and pitching. In game two, we came out a little flat and failed to make adjustments early. We will regroup and focus on playing Murray State on Sunday," said head coach
David Williams.
Junior
Robyn Leighton got the scoring started in game one with a two-run home run in the top of the first. Rager then connected on a grand slam in the second inning as the Eagles jumped out to an 8-0 lead.
Sophomore
Ellen Barrett hit a solo home run in the third and Rager then hit a two-run blast in the fourth as Morehead State won 11-0 in five innings.
McManaway (10-3, 0.52) threw five scoreless innings for her ninth shutout of the season. She allowed just one hit and two walks, while striking out 13.
Rager finished 2-for-3 with a career-high two home runs and six runs batted in.
In the second game, Austin Peay got solo runs in the third and the fourth and then scored four in the fifth as the Eagles fell, 7-1.
Morehead State managed seven hits, but their lone run came off of an RBI single by Rager in the seventh.
Leighton and Barrett both had two hits in the loss.
Senior
Megan Tymorek picked up the loss, allowing six hits and two earned runs in 4.1 innings of work.
The Eagles remain on the road to face Murray State on Sunday afternoon at 2 and 4 p.m. ET.
