Jessie Wachtman enjoys Athletes in Action trip to Thailand
MOREHEAD, Ky. - While redshirt junior Jessie Wachtman has achieved much on the volleyball court, her efforts off the court that should be recognized, as well.

Wachtman is a member of the Morehead State women's volleyball and beach volleyball teams and spent her summer in Thailand with a Christian ministry organization based on campus called, "Athletes in Action".

"It was amazing, it was great. I was really excited to get involved because of all the opportunities and it was an awesome way to spend the summer," said Wachtman.

Wachtman has played volleyball with many players in the United States and decided to put a team together to go over to Thailand.

"Our goal was to use our platform of volleyball to share about Jesus and the gospel," said Wachtman.

They were able to run camps and played other professional and national teams.

Wachtman will forever remember her experience as a leader with Athletes in Action.

"It was a life changing experience for sure. Just getting to be amerced in a different culture and see how different their lives are compared to here in America," said Wachtman. "From the food that they eat and the hand gestures that you aren't allowed to use, it was absolutely amazing and it changed my life for sure."

In addition to being a leader with Athletes in Action, Wachtman also takes great pride in her academics and has a perfect 4.0 grade point average as she enters her fourth year.

This amazing venture is just one more to add to a list of amazing things that Wachtman has to look forward to.

Erin Blaine is a fifth-year senior with the women's basketball team. She comes to Morehead State from Howard University. Throughout the season, the native of Washington, D.C., will be featuring student-athletes from all of Morehead State's athletic programs.
