MOREHEAD, Ky. – Coming off a 98-minute conference-opening slugfest with Murray State last Thursday, Morehead State soccer (1-6, 0-1 Ohio Valley Conference) battles in-state rival Eastern Kentucky (3-3, 0-0-1 OVC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
Morehead State goalkeeper
Michelle Washburn enters the match as the OVC leader in saves per game, posting a 7.1 average. The junior from Georgetown, Ky. snagged five saves in last Thursday's loss to the Racers, helping to extend the contest into the Eagles' first overtime bout of the season.
Junior midfielder
Samantha Damante, whose shot on goal in overtime almost ended last Thursday's match, ranks eighth in the conference with two assists on the season. Forward
Ashley Ritchie anchors the MSU attack with 14 shot attempts in her sophomore campaign, twice the total of the next closest player.
The Eagles hold an 8-3-2 advantage over the Colonels in the all-time head-to-head series. Morehead State enters the match seeking revenge for a 4-0 defeat in Richmond last season, its first loss to EKU since 2012. Sunday's match will be broadcast live on the
OVC Digital Network.
