JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – For the second-consecutive match, Morehead State volleyball turned away 13 opponent attacks, unfortunately, coming up short in a five-set affair with Jacksonville State. The Eagles (17-8, 8-4 OVC) captured a pair of sets and forced extra points in the decisive fifth set, but the Gamecocks (14-12, 6-6 OVC) downed the Eagles 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 13-25, and 16-14 in the match.
Redshirt senior
Jessie Wachtman headed the Eagles block, deterring a career-high tying nine blocks. Of her nine total blocks, six of them were solo blocks, a total that ties for the third-best single game total in program history. Additionally, Wachtman's six solo blocks mark the first time since 2009 that an Eagle had recorded five or more solo blocks, with Annie Gruenschlaeger (five) the last player to accomplish the feat.

Olivia Montelisciani each scooped up nine digs apiece, falling just short of double-digit digs.
Offensively, four Morehead State players recorded 10 or more kills, including a match-high 16 kills from Lohmeier. The total marks the sixth-straight match that Lohmeier has reached double-figures. Wachtman added 12 kills to her nine total blocks, tying Lohmeier for a match-high 19.5 points. Also in double figures were Jones and Rokey, each adding 10 kills apiece.
Redshirt sophomore setter
Chandler Clark passed out 46 total assists on the match as Morehead State hit .163 as a team.
Morehead State returns to the court for a Halloween matchup with in-state rival Eastern Kentucky on Wednesday in Richmond, Ky. Match time is set for 6 p.m. ET.
