NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In just its 19th match of the season, Morehead State volleyball matched the team's 2017 season win totals with a victory over Tennessee State on Saturday. The Eagles (14-5, 5-1 OVC) swept the host Tigers (7-10, 5-1), knocking them from the ranks of the unbeaten in Ohio Valley Conference play.
Morehead State took the match in three sets, winning with scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-20. The win also secured the Eagles first sweep of both Nashville teams (Belmont and Tennessee State) in the Music City since 2013.
Four Eagles recorded hitting efficiencies of .350 or higher on Saturday. Freshman libero
Allison Whitten recorded a kill on her only swing, registering a perfect hitting percentage while three others recorded a .350 or better hitting percentage on 10 or more kills. Middle Blockers
Jessie Wachtman and
Maddie Fella headlined the trio, connecting at a .421 and .417 rate, respectively. Sophomore outside hitter
Lauren Rokey rounded out the group, recording a .350 hitting percentage.
Wachtman led all Eagles with 10 kills on 19 swings, reaching double-digits for the seventh time this season. Sophomore outside hitter
Olivia Lohmeier followed close behind with nine kills while Rokey (eight), senior right-side hitter
Jordan Jones (six), and Fella (five) each recorded five or more terminations.

Chandler Clark dished out another 34 assists Saturday, upping her season total to 714 helpers, including 67 this weekend. She also added seven digs on the afternoon. Whitten led the Morehead State back row, digging up 11 balls while senior defensive specialist
Alyssa Cecil recorded seven digs, one dig shy of her season high. The Eagles also pressed the Tigers in the service game, recording five total aces with Clark recording three.
At the net, Morehead State blocked six total shots, all coming in the final set. Fella, Rokey, and Wachtman each blocked three shots apiece while Lohmeier and Jones also added blocks.
Morehead State returns to action on Wednesday, hosting UT Martin in a mid-week OVC contest. First serve from Wetherby Gym is set for 6 p.m. ET.
