DAYTON, Ohio –
Morehead State football had a tough time stopping the Dayton offense Saturday as the Eagles fell 63-20 to the Flyers at Welcome Stadium.

The Flyers had 302 yards by halftime, including 151 rushing yards by back Tucker Yinger, and finished with 554 yards. The hosts built a 42-13 cushion by the intermission. Yinger rushed for a game-best 264 yards on just 18 carries and scored four times, including catching a TD as well. Dayton finished with 443 yards on the ground.

Today's bright spot was senior wideout Jarin Higginbotham. He became just the third player in program history to eclipse 2,000 career receiving yards with 79 today on five catches.

"He had some big catches and some great third-down conversion catches today," said head coach Rob Tenyer. "He has had a great career, and I am proud of him."

MSU fell to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the Pioneer League.

"We just need to be a little more prideful," said Tenyer. "It was a disappointing day. Again, it was us letting them have too many big plays. We moved around a little bit on defense and gave them some different looks, but we didn't get off many blocks today."

After spotting Dayton a 21-0 lead, the Eagles got on the board with a 16-yard rushing score by junior running back Chris Nelson at the 10:36 mark of the second quarter.

Dayton piled on three more scores to make it 42-7 before senior QB Lawson Page found senior slot man Nathan Sames on an eight-yard TD pass with 14 ticks before the half. The PAT was blocked.

Freshman running back Jovan Smith found the end zone with 10:19 left in the game after Dayton had taken a 56-13 lead.

Morehead State's offense did generate 405 yards, including 255 on the ground. Page rushed for a team-best 69 yards, while senior Arien Beasley churned up 58. Page was 15-of-31 for 150 yards, going above 2,000 passing yards for the season.

Freshman cornerback Brandon Barbee topped the defense with a career-best seven tackles.

After two straight road games, the Eagles return to Jayne Stadium Saturday for the season finale against Drake. The game is at 1:05 p.m. ET and will serve as Senior Day.
