Women's basketball tips off OVC Tournament with Jacksonville State on Thursday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Morehead State women's basketball (21-10, 12-6 Ohio Valley Conference) will tip off the 2018 postseason with Jacksonville State (18-11, 12-6 OVC) on Thursday at 2 p.m. ET in the opening round of the OVC Tournament.

The Eagles, who fell to the Gamecocks in both regular season matchups by a total of eight points, earned a No. 5 seed in its second consecutive postseason conference tournament, while Jacksonville State is seeded fourth.

Morehead State concluded its regular season with back-to-back wins at Johnson Arena, including a 62-51 victory over Eastern Kentucky on senior day last Saturday. Jacksonville State ended its regular season by winning four of its last five.

GAME NOTES

BUSINESS AS USUAL
Morehead State qualifies for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament for the second consecutive season, marking the third time in head coach Greg Todd's four-year tenure that the Eagles have done so.

LUCKY CITY
The OVC Tournament will tip off for the very first time in Evansville, Ind., where Morehead State picked up an 82-75 20-point comeback win over the Evansville Purple Aces on Dec. 10.

THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM
Morehead State dropped both of its regular season matchups with Jacksonville State by a combined eight points.

SINGLES MINGLE
No player on the Jacksonville State roster posts a double-digit scoring average.

21, 21
Morehead State ends the regular season with 21 wins for the second consecutive season, accomplishing the feat for the first time since 2009-10 & 2010-11.

ALL-OVC
Morehead State was one of just two schools with multiple players on the 2018 All-OVC First Team, as Miranda Crockett and Eriel McKee were bestowed the honor last Tuesday.
