BOX SCORE: GAME 1 | GAME 2

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Hosting its second consecutive weekend tournament at University Field, Morehead State softball (15-6) dropped its first two installments of the Eagle Classic on Friday.

TOLEDO 4, MOREHEAD STATE 0

Senior pitcher Chelsea McManaway spent all seven innings of the Eagles' first game in the circle, striking out six and walking five. The second-year transfer from Findlay faced 31 batters on the day, allowing four runs and three hits. The 4-0 loss at the hands of Toledo moves McManaway's record to 10-2 on the season.

The Rockets' Ashley Rausch put the first points on the board with a solo homer in the top of the fourth, padded by a run from Raelyn Nyren. While both teams logged three hits overall, Toledo added two more unanswered runs in the game's final inning.

Senior leftfielder Taylor Wheeler notched two of the Eagles' three hits, while Allison Rager collected the other.

EAST TENNESSEE STATE 4, MOREHEAD STATE 2 (8 INNINGS)

Rager manned both the circle and the plate in the Eagles' second outing, pitching all eight innings to close the day. Rager faced 34 batters, striking out two and walking one. The Elk View, W. Va. native allowed four runs and eight hits, falling to 4-4 in her junior campaign.

Wheeler's two-run homer in the bottom of the third scored herself and Hannah Murphy, giving Morehead State an early 2-0 lead. However, East Tennessee State's Taylor Wright answered back in the top of the fourth, tying the contest with a two-run homer of her own.

The game remained deadlocked at 2 after seven innings, but another RBI from Wright and an RBI from Tiffany Laughren in the eighth sealed the Buccaneers' win.

Wheeler was one of five Eagles to record a hit, matched by Murphy, Paige Scruggs, Kylie Holton, and Robyn Leighton.
