Women's Golf Overcomes Tough Conditions to Take Runner-Up Finish in Nevada

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Overcoming less-than-ideal windy conditions, the Morehead State women's golf team finished as the runners up at the Battle at Boulder Creek in Nevada this week.

Playing at the par-72, 6,252-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, the Eagles carded three-day totals of 319-310-314--943. Georgetown claimed the team title.

Senior Sarah Debnekoff earned an all-tournament team spot by finishing fourth, the highest individual finish in her career. She turned in scorecards of 74-77-77--228. Junior Ana Dieguez fashioned her second-highest career finish with a 12th-place showing. Dieguez went 78-79-79--236.

Freshman Barbara Roether shook off a tough opening round to finish in a deadlock for 16th place, carding an 87-74-78--239.

Senior Ebba Gustafsson was tied in 23rd place with an 82-80-80--242, and sophomore Gypsie Hutchinson also competed but had to withdraw in the second round. She had first and third rounds of 85 and 86, respectively.

Morehead State will return home, then prepare to host the MSU Citrus Classic in Sorrento, Fla., on March 18-20.
