MOREHEAD, Ky. – Despite a pair of solid pitching performances, the Morehead State softball team dropped games to Ohio Valley Conference foe Southeast Missouri by scores of 2-0 and 4-1 Saturday afternoon at University Field.

Back-to-back walks and a double steal set the stage for Southeast Missouri's Brooke Rheinecker to tap a two-run single into left field to break a scoreless tie in the fifth inning.

Chelsea McManaway went the distance in the pitcher's circle for Morehead State, striking out 14 batters, and improving her OVC-best total to 193. But she was hung with the loss, dropping the senior left-handed ace fell to 14-6 overall. Haley Thogmartin tossed six shutout innings for the win before Rachel Rook entered for the save. Thogmartin improved to 9-6 and Rook recorded her third save.

The Eagles were only able to muster up two hits in the loss with a single by senior Kylie Holton in the fifth and a single by freshman Paige Scruggs in the seventh.

After the Redhawks opened with back-to-back doubles to take a 1-0 lead, senior and leadoff batter Taylor Wheeler blasted a solo homer over the right-center field fence to tie things at 1-1. Unfortunately for the Eagles, Wheeler's solo shot became the only hit of the game.

SEMO added one run in the fourth and two runs in the seventh inning to pull away for the 4-1 win.
