MOREHEAD STATE 1, UT MARTIN 0
Morehead State picked up its first win at University Field since March 31 behind McManaway's sixth shutout effort of the year, moving her to 15-6. The lefty from Wellston, Ohio faced 22 batters, striking out six and walking one. McManaway nearly clinched a no-hitter, but allowed a single to right field by UT Martin's Lauren Myers in the fourth inning.
The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning, when
Paige Scruggs notched the lone run off a sacrifice fly from Holton with the bases loaded. Scruggs was the only Eagle to record two hits, while Barrett, Murphy, Ward, and Wheeler each added one.
UT MARTIN 6, MOREHEAD STATE 4
The slow pace of the first game was juxtaposed with a scoring outburst in the second, though Morehead State ultimately came up short. Junior dual-threat
Allison Rager received the loss in the circle, dropping to 7-8 on the season.
UT Martin brought home a run in each of its opening frames, only to be answered by a four-run eruption from the Eagles in the bottom of the second. Morehead State clinched to a 4-2 lead until the fifth inning, when the Skyhawks poured in the last four runs of the afternoon.
Rager lasted 4.2 innings before being relieved by McManaway, who added 35 more pitches to her day. At the plate, Rager recorded a run in just two at-bats. Murphy, Ward, and Wheeler also contributed one run apiece.
Wheeler and Bennett each logged two hits, while Murphy and Ward both supplied one. Murphy, Wheeler, Bennett, and Scruggs were credited with one RBI each.
