2K CLASSIC

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The Morehead State men's basketball team will be taking part in the 2018 2K Classic, benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. The Eagles will travel to Connecticut and Syracuse and also participate in the subregional round at Eastern Washington.

The Eagles will battle the UConn Huskies in Storrs, Conn., on Thursday, Nov. 8 and will play in the Carrier Dome at Syracuse on Saturday, Nov. 10. Game times will be announced later. Morehead State played at UConn in 2005-06. MSU has played Syracuse twice, once being in the 1983 NCAA Tournament at Syracuse and the other in 1987-88 at the Carrier Dome as well.

The subregional round will take place at Eastern Washington where the Eagles will take on UMKC (Missouri-Kansas City) on Nov. 16. Eastern Washington and Green Bay will also be in Cheney, Wash. with the subregional championship and consolation games on Nov. 17. MSU played at Eastern Washington in 2016-17 after postponing the game a year due to winter weather travel difficulties.

Iowa and Oregon are also in the 2K Classic with those two teams plus UConn and Syracuse playing at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 15-16.

UConn is led by newly hired head coach Dan Hurley. Ten of 13 players are expected to return, including three starters. Guard Jalen Adams, a second-team All-AAC choice, led UConn with 18.1 points per game to go with a team-best 141 assists last year.

Jim Boeheim is entering his 43rd season at Syracuse with 926 career wins, which ranks second all-time. All five starters on last year's roster are expected to return, as well as six of the top seven scorers. Guard Tyus Battle led the Orange with a 19.2 points-per-game average in earning second-team All-ACC honors.

The 2018-19 UMKC Roos will be led by guard Xavier Bishop, who paced the team in scoring (11.6 ppg) and assists (97) in 2017-18. Kareem Richardson coaches the Kangaroos, who play in the Western Athletic Conference.

Morehead State's complete 2018-19 schedule will be released later this summer.
