SCHEDULE
MOREHEAD, Ky. – As the summer rolls along, Morehead State volleyball has finalized its 2018 schedule. The 29-match slate features 14 home contests, including two season-opening tournaments—the Eagle Challenge and Comfort Inn-Vitational—hosted by the Eagles.
The season opens Aug. 24-25 as the Eagles welcome in Bradley, Hampton, and St. Francis Brooklyn to compete in the Eagle Challenge. The two-day event features a total of six matches between the four teams with each team facing one another once.
The following weekend (Aug. 31-Sept. 1), Morehead State hosts Mercer, Saint Francis (Pa.), and Wright State in the Comfort Inn-Vitational. This season's iteration of the two-day event marks the 12th season and eighth consecutive, the Eagles have hosted the event.
In between the two season opening tournaments, Morehead State travels to Huntington, W. Va., for a midweek, non-conference tilt with rival Marshall on Aug. 28.
Wrapping up non-conference action, the Eagles hit the road for a pair of tournaments at Toledo and West Virginia. The Blue and Gold Tournament (Sept. 7-8), hosted by the Rockets, also includes Manhattan and Duquesne. The West Virginia Classic (Sept. 14-15), features host and Big 12 member West Virginia, ACC member Wake Forest, and Penn.
Conference play begins on Sept. 21 when Morehead State welcomes Jacksonville State to kick off a three-game, conference home stand. Tennessee Tech (Sept. 22) and Eastern Kentucky (Sept. 26) wrap up the home stand.
Following the conference-opening three-match home stretch, the Eagles hit the road for three consecutive conference battles. The road trip features contests at Austin Peay (Sept. 29), Belmont (Oct. 5), and Tennessee State (Oct. 6).
Morehead State returns home on Oct. 10 and 13 for matches with UT Martin and Southeast Missouri before hitting the road for a five-match road swing. The swing includes matches with SIU Edwardsville (Oct. 19), Eastern Illinois (Oct. 20), Tennessee Tech (Oct. 26), Jacksonville State (Oct. 27), and Eastern Kentucky (Oct. 31).
The month of November includes three home contests to close the season. The Eagles welcome in Murray State (Nov. 3), Tennessee State (Nov. 9), and Belmont (Nov. 10).
The Ohio Valley Conference Tournament is set for Nov. 15-19. The three-day tournament will be played at the home of the regular season champion.
