Soccer Eagles Up for the Challenges on the 2018 Schedule
2018 SCHEDULE

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Heading into the program's 20th season, Morehead State soccer has announced its 18-match schedule for the 2018 season. Seven home matches and battles against three Power 5 opponents highlight the slate.

"This is a very demanding schedule. I have always been a coach who wants to be challenged in our non-conference schedule, and we did it again in 2018," said head coach Warren Lipka. "It will be difficult, but it will prepare us for a tough OVC season."

The preseason begins in early August with a pair of road tilts against traditional program rivals. The Eagles open the preseason at Marshall (Aug. 8) before heading to Louisville (Aug. 11) to wrap up the exhibition slate. The Eagles have met the Thundering Herd and Cardinals each seven previous times in the regular season, while also meeting in numerous preseasons.

Morehead State opens the 2018 regular season with three straight road matches, including two against Power 5 foes. The Eagles open at Akron on Aug. 17, marking the third time in program history the club has opened in Akron, having previously done so in 2005 and 2012. Morehead State then hits the road for matches with Atlantic Coast Conference foe Pittsburgh (Aug. 19) and Southeastern Conference opponent Kentucky (Aug. 23).

The Eagles return home for the first of seven home tilts on Aug. 26, hosting the Mid-American Conference's Ball State. The meeting marks the second time Ball State has traveled to Morehead, the last being in 2015.

Morehead State hits the road again on Aug. 30 for its final match against a Power 5 foe, facing off with Ohio State from the Big 10. The meeting marks the first time the two teams have met since 2013 when the Buckeyes used a goal in the final minutes to down the Eagles.

The Eagles welcome Kennesaw State to Jayne Stadium on Sept. 2 for the two program's second-ever meeting. The two teams met at Kennesaw State last season, with the Eagles dropping a 1-0 decision.

MSU wraps up the non-conference portion of the schedule with a pair of road matches at Kent State (Sep. 7) and Duquesne (Sep. 9). The Eagles meet the Golden Flashes for the first time since hosting a home-and-home series across the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The meeting with Duquesne marks the first match between the two teams.

The Ohio Valley Conference portion of the 2018 slate begins on Sept. 14 with a two-match homestand. The Eagles welcome in Eastern Illinois before welcoming in SIU Edwardsville to conclude it on Sept. 16.

The Eagles hit the road for a trio of matches to end the month of September, facing OVC foes Belmont (Sept. 21), Eastern Kentucky (Sept. 23), and Southeast Missouri (Sept. 30). Then, it's a return home for three matches to begin October, hosting Austin Peay (Oct. 7), Tennessee Tech (Oct. 12), and Jacksonville State (Oct. 14).

Morehead State wraps up the 2018 regular season, hitting the road to face Murray State on Oct. 19, before putting the finishes touches on the regular season on Oct. 21 at UT Martin.
