Maddie Fella led Morehead State to a season-opening sweep of St. Francis Brooklyn Friday morning. The Eagles captured the match, taking the three sets 25-18, 25-21, and 25-9.
Fella terminated 12 total shots in the match, falling one block assist short of her own match record. She teamed with senior right-side hitter
Jordan Jones on five occasions to stuff potential attack attempts. Jones added nine total blocks in the match, all assists, teaming with Fella to pace the Eagles.
Offensively, Jones added a match high 10 kills, falling a block assist from notching her first double-double of the season. Three more Eagles, sophomores
Olivia Lohmeier (9), and
Lauren Rokey (6), and redshirt senior
Jessie Wachtman (7) balanced the offensive attack for Morehead State.

The Eagles fell behind in each of the first two sets before using a pair of four point runs to rally and take each set. In the match's third and final set, the Eagles used a nine point run to build a commanding lead. Morehead State ended the match on a 5-0 run as freshman middle blocker
Mia Swearingen used her first career kill to ice the match.
The Eagles return to the court at Wetherby Gym this evening to face Bradley in the Eagle Challenge's final match of the evening. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
