MORGANTOWN, W. Va. –
After jumping out to a 2-0 set lead, Morehead State volleyball dropped a tightly contested match with West Virginia. The Eagles drop to 9-3 on the year, while the Mountaineers improve to 5-5.

Morehead State captured the first two sets 26-24 and 25-15 before West Virginia took the final three sets 25-21, 25-16, and 15-4. Morehead State hit an uncharacteristic .059 in the match, including hitting in the negatives in each of the final three sets.

Senior right-side hitter Jordan Jones led the way offensively for the Eagles, recording a season-high 15 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Rokey and redshirt senior middle blocker each landed nine winners, with Wachtman hitting a team-high .571.

Redshirt sophomore setter Chandler Clark dished out 35 assists while recording 14 digs to record her fifth double-double of the season. In addition to Clark's 14 digs, two other Eagles, freshman libero Allison Whitten (18) and freshman defensive specialist Olivia Montelisciani (13), each dug up double-digit balls. Whitten's 18 digs represented a match-high as both teams notched 63 digs.

Defensively, Morehead State blocked 10 shots during the match, led by senior middle blocker Maddie Fella. In her first start since Sep. 1, Fella blocked five total shots, all assists. Jones and sophomore outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier each added three blocks apiece, as the Eagles recorded their highest block total since blocking 12 total shots at Marshall on Aug. 28.

Morehead State wraps up play at the West Virginia Classic Saturday, facing off with Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons enter the match winners of four straight, taking their only match of the tournament over Penn in four sets. First serve is set for 1 p.m. ET.
