NASHVILLE, Tenn.
– The Morehead State soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Belmont Bruins on Friday evening at E.S. Rose Park.

After playing to a scoreless tie in the opening 45 minutes of play, the Bruins were able to finally break away for a one-on-one goal in the 62nd minute. The goal came off the boot of Bruins' forward Julie Garst and was her third goal of 2018.

Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Eva Helgadottir recorded two saves in the match including a penalty-kick stop in the 78th minute to keep the match a one-score affair.

The Eagles were able to put the pressure on Belmont down the stretch but were unable to find the back of the net as they fired five of their 11 shots in the final 12 minutes of play.

Sophomore midfielder Katie Kiolbassa was cautioned with a yellow card in the match. It was the first of her career and the sixth yellow Morehead State has drawn during the 2018 season.

The Eagles fall to 2-9 overall and are now 1-2 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Belmont improves to 3-3-2 and is now 1-0-1 in the OVC.

Morehead State will now shift focus to in-state rival Eastern Kentucky. The Eagles and Colonels are scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at the EKU Soccer Field.
