CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Morehead State soccer team allowed two goals in the opening 10:21 as it dropped a 2-0 decision to Ohio Valley Conference foe Southeast Missouri on Sunday afternoon at Hauck Field.

The RedHawks' leading goal scorer Esmie Gonzales found the back of the net at the 7:35 mark with a shot off a volley in the box. Less than three minutes later SEMO struck again as Morgan McCourt was able to head in a corner kick at 10:21 into the match.

Gonzales fifth goal of 2018 was assisted by Jordan Nelson while the McCourt header goal was served up off Emily Holten's corner kick.

Morehead State was outshot by the Redhawks 11-6. Senior forward
Dani Wilson led the team with two shots. Senior midfielder
Samantha Damante and senior defender
Makenna Lavatori each fired one shot that was on goal.

Eva Helgadottir made two stops in the match to raise her season save total to 66.
The loss drops the Eagles to 2-10 overall and 1-3 in OVC play. Southeast Missouri now stands at 3-7-1 and 1-3-1 in conference play

Morehead State returns to action on Tuesday at Eastern Kentucky. The match, that was originally scheduled for September 23 but postponed due to weather, will kickoff at 4:00 p.m. ET from the EKU Soccer Field in Richmond.
